What is Ecovadis?
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most renowned providers of business Sustainability ratings, intelligence and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains. Results are provided in a quantitative manner which shows
the scoring on the Sustainability topics (Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement). Companies receive a rating and, if the rating is sufficient, a medal depending on the rating score.
What does it mean to be certified by EcoVadis?
Many companies communicate various actions or goals related to sustainability. However, it is often not fully clear what exactly, or how extensively, this is done.
Having an EcoVadis rating and Gold medal, shows Numidia’s level of sustainability being in the top 1% in its field.
Why did you decide to invite EcoVadis for this review?
Since 2017, Numidia has been working increasingly on its level of Sustainability. From ISO 14001 certification, being the first dairy trader to voluntarily compensate CO2, to
having the option to provide its customers with Green label products. As mentioned before, it is sometimes difficult for others outside a company to really see what the company is doing exactly in regards to Sustainability. Since we were – and are – very proud what Numidia has been doing with Sustainability, we were looking for a way to show this more clearly to others outside the company. EcoVadis was for Numidia the perfect way of doing this, since it would not only show that Numidia is taking actions on Sustainability, but also at what level.
How long did it take you to prepare for the review? Luckily not long. Most of the topics covered by EcoVadis were already implemented within Numidia.
How does EcoVadis do the review?
EcoVadis ratings are determined by questionnaires. The methodology of these questionnaires is aligned with international standards and require you to provide sufficient proof that you comply with the various referred Sustainability standards. This proof is then verified by world’s leading Sustainability analysts.
How did you achieve this score?
We were already very proud when Numidia received a Silver Medal in 2021 as its first rating! Since then, Numidia has evolved even more in its level of Sustainability due to which we now have been awarded with the Gold Medal.
How do you plan to maintain this score?
We still have many Sustainability related ideas and improvements to be implemented. We therefore also don’t strive to maintain this score, but are very confident that next year we will achieve our Platinum Medal.
How will you (or Numidia) do business differently after getting this score?
Although we are of course very happy with this rating and the awarding of a Gold Medal, we will not do business in any other way! It is exactly how Numidia does business what got us to this level of Sustainability. Our mission is to be the best and most sustainable dairy trader worldwide. We are therefore also confident that continuing this way of doing business will take Numidia to this goal.
