Carbon Footprint
To determine the impact of Numidia on the environment, Numidia has identified the Carbon Footprint. By doing this, Numidia is able to set clear objectives to reduce the carbon emissions from its operations. This includes the direct carbon emissions from Numidia’s own buildings, but also of its indirect external operations such as warehousing, truck transport and ocean freight worldwide.
Environmental and Climate Commitment Policy
Commitment to Reducing Environmental Impact
We are committed to reducing not only our direct environmental footprint but also the footprint of the transport and warehousing operations of our logistic business partners. This commitment is central to our sustainability efforts and is supported by specific, measurable targets for reducing emissions and minimizing resource use.
Climate Change Mitigation and Carbon Compensation
As the first global dairy trader to voluntarily compensate fully for CO₂ emissions in our operations, Numidia is committed to leading by example. Our climate actions focus on:
- Carbon Reduction and Offset: We take responsibility for both reducing and compensating our carbon footprint, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions as far as they are related to transport and warehousing organized by Numidia or related to our business travels and lease cars. Where reductions are not yet feasible, we fully offset our CO₂ emissions.
- Continuous Improvement in CO₂ Reduction: By setting ambitious targets for emission reductions, we focus on areas with the highest impact, such as product transportation, and ensure ongoing improvement.
- Adaptation to Climate-Related Risks: We regularly assess climate risks in our operations and supply chain, taking proactive steps to adapt our practices and enhance our resilience.
Numidia operates under an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System, combined with the ISO 14001 CO₂ Reduction Management module, ensuring a consistent and robust approach to environmental performance. This system enables us to:
- Set, monitor, and review environmental objectives and targets.
- Practice continuous improvement through procedures to identify and control environmental impacts.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to align with ISO 14001 requirements and EU environmental legislation.
Sustainable Supply Chain Practices
Our commitment to environmental responsibility extends to our suppliers and contractors, with a focus on promoting sustainable practices in every link of our supply chain:
- Sustainable Procurement: We select and work with suppliers who demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability.
- Resource Efficiency: We collaborate with our transport and warehousing partners to reduce resource consumption, minimize waste, and increase recycling.
Continuous Improvement and Transparency
Numidia believes in the importance of transparency and continuous improvement. Our Environmental Management System enables us to:
- Set, review, and communicate objectives and targets that drive ongoing environmental performance.
- Perform regular internal and external audits to monitor compliance with ISO 14001 and CSRD requirements.
- Report our progress and challenges openly to our stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the public.
Employee Engagement and Public Accessibility
We are committed to engaging our employees, who are integral to achieving our environmental goals, by providing ongoing training and development in sustainable practices. This policy is communicated to all staff and is accessible to the public, contractors, and suppliers, fostering a collective approach to sustainability.
